Modernization Engineer – Cloud & Application Development
We are looking for a Modernization Engineer with deep expertise in transforming legacy systems into modern, cloud-enabled applications. The ideal candidate combines strong coding skills with cloud experience to analyze, refactor, and modernize legacy assets, enabling scalable and reusable solutions for business applications. Location: Pittsburgh, PA Duration: 11 months Key Responsibilities: Analyze IT requirements and translate them into components of modernized solutions using modernization frameworks. Perform legacy asset analysis, code restructuring, refactoring, and conversion. Extract business logic and convert it into executable business rules. Work with legacy platforms and design integrations and service interfaces for reuse across modern systems. Develop and test applications in cloud environments, with a focus on AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, S3, and Elastic Cache. Participate in delivery or engagement teams, contributing to solution design, implementation, and deployment. Reuse and enhance digital modernization assets, methods, and collateral for future projects. Develop web-based UIs using React and ensure integration with backend systems, streaming platforms, and messaging queues like Kafka and MQ. Implement CI/CD pipelines to support automated build, test, and deployment processes. Required Skills & Qualifications: 5–8 years of professional experience in Python; experience with Java is highly desirable. Strong experience with cloud integration, particularly AWS. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, web-based UI development (React), and streaming/messaging systems (Kafka, MQ). Familiarity with legacy modernization frameworks and practices. Knowledge of modern cloud architecture patterns and reusable solution components. Nice to Have: Experience or exposure to Palantir platforms. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
