Job Description

Supports CCMD staff that participates in the JPP. Subject matter expertise with MISO capabilities, experience working with Internet Based MISO (IBM), and understand the informational impact of adjacent units. MISO planners will advise operators on methods of leveraging informational power to gain and maintain information advantage. MISO Planner will develop integrated MISO and supporting activities into CCPs, contingency plans, crisis plans, theater campaign orders, and ongoing operations. MISO planners assist other joint planners in incorporating their understanding of how information impacts the OIE to identify how to best leverage MISO to achieve the objectives during operations. 

MISO planner will collaborate with the CCMD team to develop and plan activities that leverage the full spectrum of joint capabilities and consider their mutual impacts. The candidate must have experience in development and submission of a MISO series as it may be required as an output of the mission analysis. You will collaborate with other CCMDs at times to synchronize IBM messaging. 

A MISO planner responsible for IBM is primarily tasked with developing and executing digital communication strategies to influence target audiences online, coordinating with adjacent staff sections and downtrace formations to ensure consistent messaging and achieving desired behavioral changes through various internet platforms, while adhering to legal and ethical guidelines 

Key roles and responsibilities of a MISO planner: 

Conduct in-depth analysis of the operational environment, including cultural, political, and social dynamics to identify key target audiences. 

Assess the target audience’s beliefs, values, motivations, and information consumption patterns to tailor messaging effectively. 

Collaborate with IBM operators to develop persuasive and culturally appropriate messaging that aligns with strategic objectives and resonates with the target audience. 

Integrate MISO activities into broader military operations, aligning messaging with other instruments of national power. 

Develop detailed MISO campaigns plan, including timelines, taskings, and measures of effectiveness. 

Collaborate with intelligence analyst to gather accurate information about the target audience and operational environment. 

Collaborate with other MISO planners, intelligence analyst, and operational units to synchronize messaging and actions across different platforms. 

Key skills for an internet-based MISO planner: 

Deep understanding of online communication platforms and social media dynamics 

Expertise in digital marketing and content creation techniques 

Strong analytical skills to interpret data and assess campaign effectiveness 

Excellent writing and communication skills to craft persuasive messaging 

Knowledge of foreign cultures and target audience sensitivities 

Awareness of legal and ethical considerations related to online information operation 

Requirements: 

Bachelor’s Degree required; significant specialized experience may be substituted in lieu.  

Requires 7+ years of related experience, including experience in the development of MISO plans and programs at the brigade level or higher.  

Completion of PSYOP qualification, Joint IO Planning, or IO Integration courses required.

TS/SCI eligibility required.
