Join a family-owned sawmill operation situated on Mitchell Island. The facility includes a sawmill, planer mill, and a re-saw plant. We are seeking a skilled millwright to join our team and primarily work in the sawmill. The millwright will be responsible for setting up, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery to ensure smooth operations.

ResponsibilitiesEnsure the operation of the mill and equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and troubleshooting problems on all manufacturing equipment such as head rigs, quad saws, edgers, sorters, stackers, log cut-up systems, Nicholson debarkers, etc.Complete maintenance tasks following manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications.Troubleshoot faulty and malfunctioning machinery.Control downtime by continually improving all sawmill manufacturing equipment.Maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with health and safety practices.

Work Environment

Experience working in a steady-paced, laid-back environment with older-type equipment, both inside and outside the plant. The work environment involves loud machinery while operating. Safety is the top priority, followed by production. Shifts are flexible, with potential rotations across days, afternoons, and sometimes graveyards. Coveralls are provided, but other clothing is not. Regular shifts are Monday to Friday, with potential Saturday shifts.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vancouver, British Columbia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.80 - $47.85/hr.
