Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Milling Machine Machinist 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Manufacturing Organization. This role will be located on site in Melbourne, Florida.
The selected candidate will require knowledge of Aircraft Structural fabrication, assembly, and installations. Complete acquaintance with an understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the job and apply practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered. The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Candidate must be comfortable in a lab environment and be able to collaborate closely with system engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers.
Job Description:
Sets up and operates plain or universal, horizontal, or vertical milling machines to perform machining operations such as compound angles and contours, boring compound angular holes, doing helical and spiral milling; serrating; and gear, spline, and keyway cutting to exacting tolerances.Selects, mounts, and aligns various specialized machine attachments and standard or improvised tooling, plans sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup, determines, sets, and adjusts speeds, feeds, and depth of cut.Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.Uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.Makes standard shop computations. Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining.May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.Requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.Fabrication of parts, assemblies, installations, and repair of production metal products using HAAS CNC machines Operate under restrictive policies regarding FOE (Foreign Object Debris), clean as you go, and housekeeping. Adhere to safety policies not limited to safety glasses. Basic Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent and 1 years related experience operating a CNC and/or water jet machines in an aerospace, military, or manufacturing environment.Ability to develop and build prototype detail parts.Must be able to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 25 pounds, and working overheadAbility to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD Clearance within a reasonable amount of timeAbility to pass a new hire Physical.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in an Aviation Rapid Prototype and/or Experimental Fabrication EnvironmentKnowledge of MasterCam2023 Cam programingSome experience using NX or CAD modeling programsExperience in a team environmentInnovative and self-motivatedActive Secret DoD Clearance last investigated within 5 1/2 years.What we offer:
