Lab Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Technician to perform routine testing and maintain high standards of laboratory cleanliness and safety. This role involves working extensively with biological materials and requires precision and adherence to protocols. You will play a crucial part in supporting our new business initiative focused on encapsulating biologics.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine testing including plate counting, staining procedures, micropipetting, serial dilutions, and preparing microbial growth plates.Maintain cleanliness and organization within the laboratory environment.Operate and maintain an autoclave.Accurately enter data into lab notebooks.Work with biological materials safely and effectively.

Qualifications

Minimum of a B.S. degree in Biology, Microbiology, or a related Life Sciences field.Required: At least 2 years of microbiology lab experience in an industry setting.A strong safety focus in laboratory operations.Proficiency in laboratory testing and equipment use.Experience with quality testing and quality control, particularly in microbiology.Skilled in micropipetting, serial dilutions, microbial plate preparation, and microbial plate counting.Knowledge of aseptic techniques, titration, pH testing, and wet chemistry.

Work Environment

The position is based in a laboratory setting within a clean and updated facility. You will report to a member of the R&D team, which comprises 30-35 people, and work closely with one Scientist and one R&D Technician. The workspace includes a clean zone with a workstation outside the lab and a chemical zone within the lab. Work hours during the summer from May 22 to Labor Day are Monday to Thursday for 9 hours, with Fridays ending at noon.

This is a Contract position based out of Appleton, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
