Job Summary:

Manages the daily operations of the central sterile supply unit.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develops specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.Collects and reports on data concerning instrument distribution, loss and replacement. Works collaboratively to identify and implement strategies related to product standardization, supply reduction, and cost containment.Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management. May perform and oversee processes such as scheduling, recruitment, payroll and student engagement.Monitors departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, vendor relations, and quality and process compliance of all sterilization activities throughout the health system.Monitors quality and process compliance of all sterilization activities.Establish and maintain sterilization, safety and security standards, policies and procedures for Sterile Processing Department to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

EXPERIENCE

Two years of sterile processing and distribution experience and two years of demonstrated leadership responsibility

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.Frequent keyboard use/data entry.Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.Rare climbing.
