General Description: The Asset Manager, Seed Treatment, is accountable for end-to-end product lifecycle management for assigned active ingredients within the Seed Treatment portfolio. Responsibilities include development of long-range strategy, product positioning, portfolio management, budgeting, and forecasting, as well as ownership of the product development pipeline to support future category growth. The role partners closely with Segment Manager(s) to set product-level strategic direction and to support the development of annual brand plans and strategies. In addition, the Asset Manager collaborates cross-functionally with key stakeholders, including Marketing Segment Managers, Product Development, Regulatory, Business Development, Supply Chain, Legal, Finance, and other internal teams. Working knowledge of row and specialty crops systems and geographies is a must; knowledge of the domestic seed treatment market is beneficial. The individual selected for this role is expected to be a strategic, commercial-oriented thinker who demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness in problem solving. The selected candidate must be collaborative, team-oriented, and demonstrate the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment. Principal Responsibilities: + Develop long-term strategic direction, market insight, and financial plans on existing as well as new AI’s to optimize Valent’s long-term profitability in seed treatment. + Develop, champion and present active ingredient business plans and key updates to Leadership Team members, Sumitomo Chemical Company, Sumitomo Biorational Company, and other key stakeholders. + Develop comprehensive plans for new seed treatment products that clearly define the activities required to advance a product from concept through registration, ensuring effective coordination and efficient execution by the cross-functional asset management team. + Develop initial product launch strategies and provide support to the Segment Manager(s) and commercial sales leaders through the product launch planning process. + Develop and implement a comprehensive post-patent plan to ensure long term profitability of the active ingredients. + Develop and manage annual sales forecasts and consumption models for brands associated with active ingredients of responsibility. + Develop and steward the positioning of each product in the asset portfolio based on market dynamics and insights and align with the Segment Management Team. + Represent marketing and lead the Seed Treatment Asset Management Team (AMT) responsible for the development and registration of new active ingredients and formulations by providing strategic marketing direction such as product/crop prioritization to assure understanding and implementation of the business strategies and brand direction. + Lead product development pipeline process for marketing based on product strategies. + Evaluate, confirm, and prioritize all product concepts by providing 10-year financial projections during the annual R&D product development pipeline process. + Complete risk analysis (concept risk versus financial reward) on key issues. + Determine, evaluate, and execute on new market, product, and technology uses in seed treatment for the assigned active ingredients. + Stay current on broad market trends and competitive activity that influence the development of strategic plans, budgets, pricing, and complete ad hoc budget financial analysis Qualifications: + Education: BA/BS in Business, Agriculture, or related field; MBA or equivalent preferred + Experience: At least 10 years related experience + Agriculture industry experience is a plus, but not required + Sales and/or product management experience Skills: + Strategic analysis, marketing principles, problem solving, financial acumen, forecasting, persuasion, negotiation, teamwork, and leadership skills + Business planning, organization, and creative skills + Approximately 20 - 40 % travel by car or air + Excellent written and verbal communication skills + Excellent time management and organization skills + Strong computational skills + Agricultural crop knowledge for the US and Canada Physical Demands and Work Environment (OFFICE Position) The physical demands and work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Base Salary: The estimated annual base salary for this position ranges from: $134,900 to $182,8000 Individual pay is based upon location, skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
