The purpose of this position is to be responsible for the day-to-day management of a calibration laboratory and team focused on excellent service delivery to customers and the preventive maintenance of equipment. This individual leads the activities of the team members in providing best-in-class service quality to customers.
**What you will do:**
+ Manage financial budgets and goals; balance workloads across personnel and equipment as necessary to maximize efficiency and quality
+ Run the organization to achieve customer satisfaction
+ Work with new and existing customers to renew and expand calibration service
+ Ensure technical support is available to support field and sales personnel. Plan and provide technical and on the job training opportunities to personnel to foster personal growth and enhance technical capability of the service organization
+ Ensure department remains technically proficient in metrology methods, theory, and statistical techniques relevant to laboratory operations
+ Oversee workload planning for the metrology laboratory and the organization overall
+ Provide formal supervision to employees within the metrology organization in close partnership with the Director of Metrology.
+ Recommend staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination
+ Plan and monitor appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor
+ Prepare and deliver performance appraisal for staff. Mentor and coach team members to further develop competencies
+ Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with the company's values
+ Perform other duties as needed to ensure financial growth, positive customer and employee experience and operational efficiency
**What you will need:**
+ Associate’s degree (AA/AS), College Diploma in electronics or metrology, or equivalent related field of study or training required. Minimum of five years of related experience and/or training
+ Minimum two years of supervisory experience in directing or leading the work of others in a laboratory setting
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to effectively present information
+ Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers
+ Knowledge of financial terms and principles and experience completing financial analysis. Ability to calculate figures such as percentages, discounts, utilization, and commissions
+ Ability to respond effectively to personnel, and other sensitive, issues
+ Intermediate skills Microsoft Office
+ Knowledge of FDA (Food and Drug Administration) regulations, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and GLPs (Good Laboratory Practices)
+ Basic knowledge of blueprints, schematic diagrams and specification manuals preferred
+ Understanding of national and international metrology quality systems standards
+ Experience with electronic, physical dimensional, and thermo-dynamic calibrations and/or with Precision Measurement Equipment Lab (PMEL) preferred
