The Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an independent, motivated and resourceful **Metrology Characterization Engineer** for our Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) - located outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs. ATL is responsible for all aspects of semiconductor technology including design, mask making, wafer fabrication, test, and assembly. The candidate must be a strong team participant, have excellent communication skills, and be resourceful and multitalented. A strong understanding of semiconductor technology and metrology engineering is essential. The **Metrology Characterization Engineer** should possess some knowledge of thin film metrology, optical image review techniques and practices. The selected candidate should have an aptitude for data analysis, technology development, and demonstrate an ability to communicate well with others and work equally well independently and as part of a team. The **Metrology Characterization Engineer** will be responsible for but not limited to: Maintaining, existing, and developing new in-line metrology recipes and techniques for metrology and characterization tools. Writing and maintaining process documentation, including development of new process standards and documentation. Partner with vendors and equipment engineers to drive existing and future tools to meet foundry and program needs. Supporting statistical process control (SPC), continuous improvement efforts, and the management and dissemination of metrology data. Mentoring and training of new engineers on metrology and characterization tools. \#NGATL \#NGMCFab This position is required to be fully on-site. **Basic Qualifications for Metrology Characterization Engineer:** + Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 2 years related relevant experience; or Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 0 related relevant experience, + Familiarity with semiconductor fabrication equipment + Familiarity with Metrology equipment (such as CD SEMs, profilometers, Raman Spectroscopy, ellipsometers, XRD, XRF) + Experience working in a cleanroom environment + Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) + U.S. Citizenship required. + The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance is required. **Preferred Qualifications for Metrology Characterization Engineer:** + Experience in lean manufacturing practices and structured problem-solving methodology + Data analysis and visualization (JMP) + Experience developing technical specifications for equipment procurement + Experience utilizing KLA, AMAT equipment and coordinating with said vendors + Hands-on experience with semiconductor fabrication equipment + Hands-on experience with Metrology equipment (such as CD SEMs, profilometers, Raman Spectroscopy, ellipsometers, XRD, XRF) + Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) Salary Range: $85,400.00 - $128,000.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
