Job Title: Metallurgical Engineer
Job Description
This role is a Quality-focused Engineering position within a steel manufacturing environment. The candidate will oversee day-to-day quality system execution, lead process and product improvement initiatives, and work cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure compliance, efficiency, and product integrity. The position combines quality assurance, process improvement, technical project leadership, and data-driven decision making, with strong emphasis on safety, continuous improvement, and collaboration across manufacturing teams.
Responsibilities
Own daily quality system activities, including testing, hold/release decisions, and compliance checks.Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for quality issues.Partner with operations and engineering to improve processes and reduce quality issues.Lead technical and continuous improvement projects, including new product initiatives.Track quality and operational KPIs using data analytics.Ensure compliance with industry and customer standards.Mentor QA and production personnel while promoting a culture of accountability and improvement.Operate and maintain testing equipment, such as tensile and bend testing machines.Essential Skills
Strong in manufacturing, metallurgy, or quality.Expertise in quality assurance and quality engineering.Proficiency in root cause analysis.Quality experience in a manufacturing environment.Data-driven mindset with a desire to learn and grow within the quality department.Experience in materials science and metallurgy.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Foundry experience is a significant advantage.Desire to grow within the quality department.Work Environment

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Knoxville, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.65 - $40.87/hr.
