We are seeking a skilled and reliable Steel Worker to join our team and assist in the modification and assembly of FMTV 10 Ton Dump Trucks. This role involves cutting, modifying, and assembling steel components for truck chassis and bodies. It requires a hands-on approach, experience with metal cutting tools, fabrication techniques, and a strong understanding of structural integrity.
ResponsibilitiesShape, modify, and assemble steel truck assemblies to meet custom specifications and production standards.Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.Operate fabrication equipment such as torches, plasma cutters, saws, and grinders.Measure and mark materials for cutting or alteration using hand tools and layout instruments.Ensure accuracy and structural integrity of modifications and repairs.Assist in assembling, fitting, and securing steel parts in place using various means such as bolts and clamps.Inspect completed work for quality and compliance with specifications.Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with company and OSHA standards.Communicate with supervisors and engineers regarding job progress, issues, or design changes.
Essential SkillsMinimum 2 years of experience working with steel in a fabrication, construction, or industrial setting.Proficiency in using power tools and measuring devices.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.Physical ability to lift heavy materials, stand for long periods, and perform physically demanding tasks.
Additional Skills & QualificationsTechnical/vocational training in metal fabrication is a plus.Familiarity with truck assembly or automotive chassis modification is highly desirable.

Work Environment
Work in an indoor/outdoor shop setting with exposure to noise, heat, and heavy equipment. Be prepared for occasional overtime or weekend work depending on project deadlines. The facility is air-conditioned, and you will work the 1st shift from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
