This position works out of our Lake County location in the Business Solutions & Services Plan/Build organization.
As the MES Application Architect, you’ll have the chance to drive full manufacturing site transformations through software and automation solutions in the IT/OT environment for global manufacturing facilities. This position requires a blend of manufacturing knowledge, technical consulting expertise, and “hands on” builder/implementation skills. The Application Architect is responsible for designing and developing POMS software in the IT/OT environment for facilities across Abbott. The MES Application Architect will collaboratively develop, troubleshoot, and maintain standard MES and automation architecture utilizing a strategic approach of industry standards with a focus on building re-useable, scalable solutions.
Application Architect is responsible for aligning technology solutions with business strategies, working across Abbott functions. Successful candidate acts as the principal designer for major systems and their subsystems utilizing a thorough understanding of available technology, tools and existing designs.
What You’ll Work On
Act as subject matter experience with MES and industrial automationWorks with business units, engineering, and infrastructure teams to design and build recipes and application integrations to align with business objectives Experience implementing robust manufacturing systems and processesStrong knowledge of supply chain management or manufacturing processes, having the ability to implement strategies to improve the efficiency of the processUnderstanding of integration between MES, PLM, ERPExperience with equipment integration and shop floor systemsExperience with POMSnet recipe and base data update/creationDemonstrate end to end understanding of process flow, able to gather requirements, design, develop and build recipesSupport site critical MES enhancement projects, including hardware upgrade, process streamline, architecture upgrade, recipe delivery, and testing coordination.Follow the Computerized Systems Validation process and Software Lifecycle (SLC) methodology to build and qualify/validate systems.Assess near-term needs and develop technical solutions; advise on options, risks, costs versus benefits, and impact on other business processes and system prioritiesPartner with the functional groups within the IT organization to communicate and clarify business needs, contribute to development of long-range system plans, and ensure products and services are aligned with business needsServe as technical expert and lead technical staff to develop, test and implement significant new products, or operational improvements or devise new approaches to problems at the division/business unitReview, validate & enhance design, conduct performance monitoring and capacity planning; install, test and upgrade releases and associated products.Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree Preferred / 9+ years’ experience.Excellent verbal and written communication skillsAt least 7 years’ experience with C# or Java software development & designingExperience with global scale manufacturing systems (POMSNet) development, integration, and supportStrong skills in methods and technologies to support manufacturing data integrations (SQL, Web Services, data mapping, etc.)Experience with Oracle Pl/SQL, Label printers, Scanners Configuration and supportAbility to apply knowledge and expertise to solve complex technical problemsProven ability to translate business requirements into technical solutionsKnowledge and experience with all phases of Software Lifecycle (SLC) in a GXP environmentExperience with IQ/OQ/PQ, authoring validation documents and execution20% Travel RequiredMisc: This is an onsite role at Abbott location in IL.
