As a Business Planner II, you'll partner with internal Partners to develop and execute financial and item plans that support department financial objectives and merchandise / inventory strategies. We are looking for: - related experience; experience managing projects What is the work? Sales / Strategy: - Drives sales and profitability by developing and directing strategic plans with Buyer and leaders; partners with Buyer to set stretch goals to grow, create, and innovate assigned commodities - Builds pre-season / manages in-season financial sales, gross margin, and inventory plans by season, at a weekly level; maintains the open-to-buy - Recommends strategies to maximize sales, profitability - Develops commodity / item plans for each assortment; aligns key goals, metrics (sales, units, inventory, receipts, turn and margin expectations); collaborates with Buyer to ensure assortment plans meet financial, space, Store objectives - Partners with Buyer to prepare promotional, markdown strategy; analyzes impact and effectiveness in season; recommends future promotions, markdowns - Develops monthly forecasts of sales and inventory for all basic, seasonal, promotional activities; develops strategies to meet department financial goals and own open-to-buy forecasts - Coordinates various info sources to create comprehensive understanding of issues to align people, systems, processes, plans to achieve greatest impact Analytics: - Provides guidance to maximize seasonal, event, and promotional buys within budget parameters; establishes seasonal strategies; identifies missed growth opportunities to Planner; identifies inventory levels needed to support rate of sale based on target sell thru percent, weeks of supply, and life cycle of product - Analyzes historical data, current trends; identifies risks and opportunities by item; identifies best sellers; rebuys / forecasts as necessary to drive sales; recognizes slow sellers; recommends profitable strategies to exit product in a timely manner to Planner - Partners with Planner, Buyer to prepare promotional and markdown strategy; analyzes impact / effectiveness in season; recommends future promotions / markdowns - Analyzes merchandise performance at commodity level (sales, inventory); identifies risks and opportunities - Communicates / presents analytical findings and recommendations Management: - Develops / oversees assigned Inventory Analysts (IA); coaches / trains to enhance skills for growth, development - Delivers effective performance appraisals; ensures clear understanding of job expectations - Partners with other H-E-B areas (e.g., Business Dev Managers [Buyers], Supply Chain, Digital, Planning & Inventory Management (PIM), Advertising, Product Dev Managers) to achieve business objectives - Manages PIM team special projects and new initiatives from concept to implementation; trains PIM team on project implementation What is your background? - A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience - 5+ years of related experience in inventory management, supply chain, retail business planning, or financial analysis - Experience managing large-scale projects - Experience working cross functionally across multiple Partners and stakeholders to influence decision making - Experience applying accounting / finance principles to developing complex costing and forecasting models Do you have what it takes to be a fit as an H-E-B GM Business Planner II? - Comprehensive knowledge of planning / replenishment systems, and store / space planning - Working knowledge of retail accounting and finance principles - Understanding of retail math - Advanced analytical skills - Advanced PowerPoint, Word, and Excel skills (e.g., advanced formulas, pivot tables, x-, v-, and h-lookups, conditional formatting) - Strong interpersonal skills - Strong verbal / written communication and listening skills - Strong organization and time management skills - Ability to work at all levels; ability to communicate persuasively and influentially cross-functionally - Ability to work under pressure with flexibility, adaptability; attention to detail - Ability to excel in a team environment - Ability to work with little supervision; self-motivation - Strong sense of urgency - Strong aptitude with numbers Can you... - Function in a fast-paced, retail, office environment - Travel by car or plane with overnight stays - Travel globally with extended stays - Work extended hours; sit for extended periods - Regularly lift 20 lbs or more 10-2022 PROC3232
