Mental Health Counseling Intern
Opens: Spring 2026 Number of Openings: 1 Days/Hours: Intern and Practicum Hours can be completed Monday - Friday between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. This is an unpaid internship opportunity for Master's Level students. Looking for a successful and fulfilling career in mental health? NWHS is seeking a highly competent behavioral health / mental health counseling practicum and intern students to work with our West Salem Clinic Mental Health team. If you have a passion for helping others and the drive and energy to sit with people through their best and worst, join an integrated team of professionals. Here at NWHS we are committed to facilitating positive transformations through building trust, being genuine and empathetic, having good communication and listening skills, and building effective counselor-client relationships. In this intern position you will learn to provide mental health counseling services to individuals, couples, families, and groups, will assess the nature and extent of a client's MH and COD presenting problems, and formulates a plan for service that will address MH and COD issues. Qualified candidate must be e nrolled in Master's degree program in counseling, social work, and/or other degree in mental health field; must be participating in graduate course work in theory, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders, and must be willing to work with persons who have mental health issues and those who are in emotional distress. Affiliation Agreement with your school and NWHS is required. Malpractice/Liability insurance is required. Our in-house LCSW Clinical Supervisor is on Site to Provide Clinical Supervision.
