Hours Per Week: Full-Time, 40 Hours/Week
Schedule: 8-hour shifts, 11p-7:30a, every other weekend rotation

SUMMARY:
As a Medical Technologist, you play a key role in supporting patient safety and high-quality clinical outcomes through precise specimen analysis, reporting and troubleshooting. The primary role of a Medical Technologist is to perform precise specimen analysis and report results accurately following established procedures. Responsible for recognizing deviation from expected results, analyzing and correcting problems using scientific principles. Performs instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analysis & Reporting. Perform precise specimen analysis and report results accurately, following established procedures; recognize deviation from expected results, analyze and correct problems using scientific principles; complete QC Action Logs, preventative maintenance logs and pending lists dailyTraining & Development. Assist with training new personnel on responsibilities in the laboratory; evaluate progress of training; make recommendations for training methods and contentEvaluation. Continuously assess work processes and make suggestions for improved work methods and ways to increase efficiency, reduce costs and solve operational problems; monitor departmental reagent inventories
 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

BS in Medical Technology or BS in a related ScienceNew York State Department of Education License, Provisional Permit, or Limited Permit as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Certification by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) preferredExcellent communication and evaluation skillsExceptional documentation skills and attention to detail

BS: Medical Technology (Required)

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: 

CLT - Clinical Laboratory Technologist - New York State Education Department (NYSED), MT(ASCP) - Medical Technologist - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
