Medical Records Administration Specialist (Auditor)
Summary About the Position: This position is located in San Antonio, Texas with the Defense Health Agency Network Central team. The position serves as a Medical Records Administrative Specialist Coding Auditor for the Network servicing area, performing in-depth audits and develops detailed training programs related to medical coding and documentation. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Responsibilities Maintain coding compliance against National and Department of Defense coding guidelines. Develop corrective action plans to resolve documentation discrepancies or errors. Present written reports for medical coding audit results. Coordinate long-range plans for implementation within the Network of Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs). Develop training on coding training for Military Treatment/Medical Facilities. Perform in-depth audits of medical coding actions. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) auditing medical codes to identify deficiencies: 2) researching regulations to identify impact to coding processes, and 3) identifying codes to record medical scenarios. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Recruitment or relocation incentives MAY be authorized for highly qualified candidates. Advanced leave accrual may be authorized. Student Loan repayment may be authorized. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.
