Summary About the Position: This position is located in San Antonio, Texas with the Defense Health Agency Network Central team. The position serves as a Medical Records Administrative Specialist Coding Auditor for the Network servicing area, performing in-depth audits and develops detailed training programs related to medical coding and documentation. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Responsibilities Maintain coding compliance against National and Department of Defense coding guidelines. Develop corrective action plans to resolve documentation discrepancies or errors. Present written reports for medical coding audit results. Coordinate long-range plans for implementation within the Network of Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs). Develop training on coding training for Military Treatment/Medical Facilities. Perform in-depth audits of medical coding actions. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) auditing medical codes to identify deficiencies: 2) researching regulations to identify impact to coding processes, and 3) identifying codes to record medical scenarios. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
