Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

 

Position Overview

Reporting to the Technical Specialist/Supervisor, and/or the Chief technologist, the incumbent works in all sub-sections of the Cadham Provincial Laboratory’s various sections on a rotation basis and performs a variety of technical duties.

Experience Previous related experience preferred. Laboratory Information System (LIS) experience desired. Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory Technology program. Successful completion of the CMLTM Prior Learning Assessment process for a discipline specialty, as deemed by the Employer may also be considered. Certification/Licensure/Registration Current registration or eligible for registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Manitoba (CMLTM) required. Current membership with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) considered an asset. Qualifications and Skills Knowledge of laboratory technique and theory essential. Knowledge and understanding of privacy legislation such as The Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) essential. Knowledge of medical and technical terms essential. Ability to make simple mathematical calculations essential. Knowledge of health and safety practices in a laboratory setting essential. Knowledge of biology desired. Knowledge of total quality assurance procedures and practices, includes quality control essential. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both written and oral. Strong interpersonal skills essential and ability to work in a team environment. Excellent organizational skills essential. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment essential. Strong computer skills and proficient with Microsoft Office, e.g., Word and data analysis using Excel essential. Ability to work independently and follow detailed instruction essential. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions essential. Physical Requirements Working shifts, weekends, and holidays may be required. Participating in standby and callback duty may be required.
