US Got People (USGP) is seeking a skilled and dedicated Medical Laboratory Technologist to join the Blood Bank team at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. This is an exciting opportunity to support our nation’s military community in a highly respected federal healthcare environment.
Position Details & Benefits:

Education:
Bachelor’s degreeGraduate of a medical technology program accredited by NAACLS, ABHES, or recognized by the American Medical Technologists (AMT)Certification:
Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association or American Red CrossCurrent certification as a Medical Technologist through either:ASCP (MT-ASCP)AMT (MT-AMT)Experience:
Minimum 3 years of Blood Bank experience within the past 5 yearsImmunization Requirements (Must be current or able to obtain):
Hepatitis B (series and titer)Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)Varicella (Chickenpox)TB (Tuberculosis) testSeasonal Influenza (flu) vaccineCOVID-19 vaccine (if applicable)Key Responsibilities:
Enter and certify lab results in Lifetrak/MHS GenesisTrain and guide laboratory technicians, residents, and staff on procedures and policiesLead Blood Donor Center (BDC) operations including manufacturing, inventory, and donor drive coordinationPerform quality control reviews, identify process trends, and implement corrective actions as neededConduct patient testing in compliance with SOPs and document results accurately in LIS and BEC systemsVerify blood component documentation and ensure all transfusion protocols are followedComplete all training, competency assessments, and CEUs to maintain certificationEnsure compliance with AABB, CAP, FDA, TJC, and other applicable standardsParticipate in proficiency testing and uphold safety and reporting proceduresAt USGP, we are proud to support veterans, their families, and the professionals who care for them.
