Foundation Health Partners (FHP) is looking for an experienced Medical Lab Scientist to join the team!
Microbiology experience highly preferred
This position is responsible for a high level of technical knowledge and application of that knowledge to department testing, clinical relevance, and complex problem solving skills. This position serves as a department resource, and is responsible for assisting with department compliance with all pertinent laboratory accrediting agency and regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA ’88, JCAHO, CAP, OSHA).

Shift Differentials Available: $2.00/hr. Weekend- $2.50/hr. Evening - $6.00/hr. Night
Responsibilities Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies and document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable performance levels.Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the Lead, Supervisor, or DirectorDocument all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.Maintains current knowledge and skills applicable to job assignments through continuing education or professional organizations.Recognize and provide input for opportunities for improvements in financial performance.
Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution.MLS/ASCP certification or equivalent such as ASCP, AMT, HEW, or AAB. If there is no current U.S. certification, it must be obtained within one year. Individuals with specialty certification may only work in the discipline of their specialty.Students may be hired at the job title equivalent to their future certification under the following conditions: The student is enrolled in a clinically recognized program (MLS), the Student’s Clinical rotation in the core area must be completed before working in that core area, and the student must complete the program and pass the certification test within one year of hire.Demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills and a high level of self-motivation. Communicates effectively in oral and written formats sufficient to demonstrate comprehension. Use of mathematics, the performance of detailed work, working with frequent interruptions, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and memorization; ability to take direction and assimilate instructions quickly.Basic computer skills are required.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
