Job Summary:\rMust be skilled in collection and processing of all laboratory specimens for testing. Evaluates specimen acceptability, enters patient and tests information into the computer, and responds to requests for information from customers. Serves in the laboratory's main communication and customer relations center. Contributes directly to patient care by accurately and timely processing specimens and dispersing information both in and outside the laboratory.\rCore Responsibilities and Essential Functions:\rCollects and receives samples for testing into the laboratory, verifies proper patient preparation sample collection, and sample transport requirements. Ensures standard precautions and personal protective equipment are utilized for collecting and processing of all types of specimens.\rDemonstrates good verbal, non-verbal, written, and electronic communication skills. Responsible for effective communications between the laboratory, clinical services and physicians.\rClerical assistance for billing, troubleshooting, data gathering, and verification of lab orders and labels.\rEndeavors to be cost efficient without sacrificing quality.\rShares with other lab staff all general responsibilities as they arise as well as any tasks requested by supervisor.\rPerforms other duties as assigned\rComplies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.\rRequired Minimum Education:High School Diploma General or GED General or Associates Other-Preferred\r\rRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):\rAll certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor or BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support\rAdditional License(s) and Certification(s):\rASCP, AMT, NHA, NCCT, ABB, NPA or Eligible for certification by an agency recognized by the Georgia Department of Community Health within 6 months of hire. within 180 Days Required\rRequired Minimum Experience:\rEducation clarification: Associates' Degree in Science/Laboratory related field.
