Butterfly Effects, a national ABA-informed therapy provider, is seeking a dedicated Medical Collections Specialist to join our team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring accurate, timely collection and resolution of outstanding payer balances while providing exceptional service to our families across the country.\n

About the Role\n

As a Medical Collections Specialist, you will support our national collections efforts with a focus on accuracy, professionalism, and responsiveness. You'll manage assigned accounts, research and resolve denied or underpaid claims, and maintain compliance with payer guidelines and HIPAA regulations. This role requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.\n

Key Responsibilities\n\nVerify client demographics, authorizations, CPT codes, and claim details related to denials or underpayments.\nResearch claims using insurance portals, Central Reach, and EOBs to determine resolution paths.\nReview clearinghouse activity for denials and manage resubmissions or corrections.\nCollaborate with the billing team to correct and resubmit denied claims due to billing errors.\nIdentify timesheet, coding, or documentation issues, and escalate for resolution.\nTrack and report payer trends, recurring denials, or discrepancies; recommend action plans to management.\nRespond to incoming calls and correspondence from payers regarding account status.\n\n

Qualifications\n\nHigh School Diploma or GED required.\n1-2 years of experience in medical billing and\/or collections.\nStrong understanding of claim denials, EOBs, and medical billing processes.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nStrong attention to detail and organizational skills.\nSelf-motivated, accountable, and team-oriented.\nCritical thinker with a desire for process improvement.\nFamiliarity with ABA therapy or behavioral health billing preferred.\n\n
