This Medical Assistant Floater position is located in Jacksonville (Northside location). The role requires flexibility, dedication, and professionalism. The primary function is to perform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician, fulfilling both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment. The floater will support clinician and care management teams in assessing and maintaining chronic disease management. Responsibilities include performing all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks. The floater will work in various offices to support either the Medical Assistant role or dedicated laboratory duties.
ResponsibilitiesPerform laboratory testing procedures and report results to a healthcare clinician.Alert healthcare clinician of any critical or out-of-range values and document critical reports.Perform phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks.Prepare specimens for reference lab send-outs, including labeling, resulting, and billing information.Perform and document daily/weekly/monthly quality control, including instrument maintenance.Perform and document patient intake vitals, including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate; notify clinician of any abnormal findings.Interview patients based on age appropriateness and/or specialty needs, accurately document and update medical records.Obtain necessary medical records, consultation notes, hospital inpatient and/or ED discharge records, diagnostic and laboratory results for clinician review, and treatment follow-up as needed.Essential SkillsMA Diploma / Certification required OR a minimum of 3 years MA experience.Active BLS certification required.Active and valid driver's license required.Proficiency in electronic health records and appointment scheduling.Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification.Ability to perform triage and patient education.Experience in internal medicine and family medicine.Additional Skills & QualificationsRMA certification is beneficial.Bilingual capabilities are advantageous.Proficient in data entry and patient vitals.Experience in pediatric care and blood draw.Work EnvironmentThe work environment is patient-facing and involves indoor work with exposure to hazards. The role requires operating computers and involves physical activities such as reaching outward and above the shoulder, manual dexterity, and lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs. The schedule includes Monday to Friday from 7:45 am to 5:00 pm, with Wednesdays from 10 am to 7 pm, and Saturdays from 7:45 am to 12:30 pm on a rotational basis.
