USGP is currently seeking a reliable and dedicated Medical Assistant to join our team full-time at the Portsmouth Naval Medical Center. Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma or GEDGraduate of a medical assistant training program accredited by:The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), ORThe Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), ORA formal United States Armed Forces medical services training program

Certification:

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Experience:

Minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant within the last three years

Immunization Requirements (Must be current or able to obtain):

Hepatitis B (series and titer)Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)Varicella (Chickenpox)TB (Tuberculosis) testSeasonal Influenza (flu) vaccineCOVID-19 vaccine (if applicable)

Key Responsibilities May Include:

Retrieve and maintain patient medical records according to clinic protocolsAssist providers during patient examinations and proceduresTransport patients to other departments as neededVerify that charts include the provider’s signature, stamp, and diagnoses before returning them to Health RecordsObtain laboratory and radiology results for provider reviewAnswer phones, take and deliver messages, and support patient communicationReport and help manage broken or unsafe equipmentSupport patient care by managing flow and providing hands-on assistance under provider supervisionSchedule and confirm appointments; contact patients about test results or provider instructionsScan and upload documents into electronic health recordsPerform receptionist, clerical, and record-keeping duties to support overall clinic operations
