The Position

Medical Affairs Manager (d/m/f)

Roche Diagnostics, Portugal (Lisbon)

Become a member of our Medical & Health Policy chapter!

At Roche Diagnostics, we are on a mission to do now what patients need next. We are seeking a passionate and visionary Medical Affairs professional to join our team and drive a fundamental shift in the Portuguese healthcare system—from reactive to proactive, where innovative diagnostic tools help save lives and optimize healthcare resources.

The Position

The role requires scientific and medical expertise, coupled with a strong strategic mindset and influencing skills to identify and address the relevant unmet needs of clinical practice and patient access. This is not a traditional medical affairs role. You will be a strategic architect, a coalition builder, and a catalyst for change, working at the intersection of clinical science, systems thinking and health policy.

Accelerate Impact Today - Drive Adoption of High-Medical-Value Diagnostic Solutions:

Drive Clinical Practice Change: Actively engage with clinical societies and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to embed our high-value diagnostics into the latest evidence-based clinical guidelines, ensuring they become the non-negotiable standard of care.

Evaluate Unmet Needs: Analyze patient pathways and identify critical evidence gaps to position Roche as the leader in preparing the ecosystem for transformative innovations like blood-based biomarkers.

Generate Powerful Local Evidence: Partner with different members of the healthcare ecosystem to co-design local studies that quantify the clinical and economic benefits of innovative diagnostic solutions, creating compelling value stories for payers and C-suite stakeholders.

Build Influential Coalitions: Collaborate with Access & Policy functions within both Roche Divisions to lead cross-sector alliances of KOLs, patient advocacy groups, and public health governance bodies to create unified advocacy for optimized patient pathways.

Empower Field Teams: Serve as the medical knowledge lighthouse for our portfolio, enabling patient access through clear scientific education and strategic insights.

Co-create National Programs: Proactively identify opportunities and support the implementation of diagnostics-led pilot programs in priority areas like cardiovascular, metabolic and neurology, with the goal of securing clear, long-term funding pathways.

Who You Are

We are looking for a future-shaper who enjoys shaping the future and refuses to leave progress to chance. You thrive on complex healthcare challenges, meeting them with a pioneering spirit and the courage to transform the status quo.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

University degree in medicine, pharmacy, or other healthcare related.

Proven experience in the pharmaceutical, diagnostics, or healthcare industry, ideally within Medical Affairs.

Work experience in the cardiovascular and/or neurology space is a plus.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (Portuguese and English) for engaging effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.

Proximity to the Roche office in Amadora for a comfortable commute, as we operate a hybrid work model.

Required Skills & Mindset:

Strategic & Influential: Natural ability to build influential relationships, think critically, and drive complex projects from concept to completion.

Ethical & Inspiring: Unwavering ethical integrity and a contagious energy focused on improving patient outcomes that inspires and motivates others.

Entrepreneurial & Collaborative: Strong entrepreneurial mindset with outstanding partnering capabilities, committed to cross-functional collaboration and alliance building to achieve shared goals.

Growth Mindset: Thrives in changing organizations by maintaining objectivity, respecting differences of opinion, applying a growth mindset to experiment, learn quickly, and contribute to knowledge sharing across the organization.
