Media Technician Senior
**Job Description** Reporting to the faculty Chair of Cinema and Media Studies, the Media Technician Senior will support faculty and students in the department. This position will produce media instructional materials for classroom instruction, institutional promotion, staff development and/or special events. Duties include: **DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES** + Maintain library of media holdings including DVDs, born-digital video, and software assets. + Manage software updates and respond to other technological changes in order to maintain stable access to media holdings. + Provide technical support to faculty in the production and maintenance of media assets. + Under faculty supervision, maintain a small library of teaching equipment and historical artifacts such as cameras, projectors, and video game consoles. + Create and maintain an archive of student work. + Establish and/or maintain scheduling, delivery and retrieval systems for media equipment, media materials, and rental materials; + Set up and operate media production systems such as video editing software and audio-visual digitization equipment; + Advise faculty and students and recommend purchase of and coordinate orders for instructional material and audio visual equipment; + Establish schedules for cleaning and maintaining physical audio-visual equipment; perform maintenance tests; + Establish schedules for updating equipment and software related to media production and display. + Advise faculty on compatibility between departmental media assets and classroom display equipment. + Comply with copyright law and practice and advise faculty and staff regarding copyright law and practice as it applies to the duplication and presentation of media materials. + Provide technical advice and assist faculty, staff and students in effective use and operation of media equipment for instructional purposes; make recommendations regarding equipment capabilities and better utilization of media materials and equipment. + Maintain stock and inventory records on materials, equipment, and parts; order supplies incidental to materials production and/or equipment support and installation. + May assist with monitoring and developing media center expenditure plans + May provide technical support for in-person, remote, and hybrid departmental events + May direct the work of others + Perform related duties as required. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS** + High school graduation AND one year of experience as a Media Technician _Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration._ **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS** + Experience managing collections of physical and/or digital media assets + Experience with processing, formatting, or editing digital video + Knowledge of DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Creative Suite, Handbrake, Final Cut, Logic, Audacity. **Pay Rate Information** The salary information provided below is for a full-time position and will be prorated for part-time. **Compensation, Benefits and Position Details** **Pay Range Minimum:** $56,124.00 annual **Pay Range Maximum:** $75,480.00 annual **Other Compensation:** - **Benefits:** For information about benefits for this position, visit https://www.washington.edu/jobs/benefits-for-uw-staff/ **Shift:** First Shift (United States of America) **Temporary or Regular?** This is a regular position **FTE (Full-Time Equivalent):** 50.00% **Union/Bargaining Unit:** SEIU Local 925 Nonsupervisory **About the UW** Working at the University of Washington provides a unique opportunity to change lives – on our campuses, in our state and around the world.
