As a Media Relations Representative – Level 3, you’ll be a linchpin for space missions that define the art of the possible. We will consider the following major Space sector locations: McLean, VA; Dulles, VA; Falls Church, VA; Linthicum, MD; Colorado Springs, CO; Promontory, UT; Huntsville, AL; or Redondo Beach, CA.
Reporting to the Media Relations Manager, the Media Relations Representative is responsible for helping to shape and execute the media relations strategy by providing guidance on proactive media outreach, responses to reporter inquiries and pitching ideas for interviews, roundtables, briefings, site visits and more.
The Media Relations Representative will also help maintain relationships with key media outlets and partner with Northrop Grumman communicators assigned to specific programs to identify earned media opportunities for certain priority external focuses.

Driving earned media for the sector through proactive outreach, query response, and event planningTriage and track incoming reporter inquiries and work with division communications teams to bring inquiries to conclusionPerform in-depth media analysis including media landscape, measuring, and reporting performance of media events and releasesPromote awareness of the information space, identifying opportunities and challenge for earned media in real timeOversee the sector’s press release process, identifying efficiencies and clearing roadblocks as neededMaintaining and helping to shape our list of target mediaSupporting and coordinating internal media trainingSupporting external events such as trade shows and space launchesOther duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 1 year of professional experienceMust have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearanceExperience successfully developing and deploying communications practicesAbility to travel up to 25% of the time; travel includes launches, tradeshows, as well as other sites, in support of the business as neededExperience developing and executing strategic media-relations plansAbility to leverage news cycles to deliver priority messages to decision-making news consumersAbility to lead and support media eventsUnderstanding of media monitoring and metricsPreferred Qualifications:
Degree with a Communications-related focusProven experience in strategic communications, journalism, marketing, community relations, public relations, government affairsSuperior project management, time management skills and attention to detailStrong written, oral and interpersonal skills and ability to facilitate and gain consensus among colleagues with disparate viewsDemonstrated experience with media measurement and tracking, utilizing tools such as Muckrack and ZignalAbility to comprehend and explain complex capabilities and initiatives to audiences that have various levels of understandingAccepts ownership and accountabilityDemonstrated experience in technology-based communication, website content management using WordPress, and SharePoint experience.Experience working for or with the aerospace industryExperience working in a large, matrixed and/or geographically dispersed organizationExceptional analytical skills and ability to spot trendsCurious about all the exciting developments with the Northrop Grumman Space Sector? Primary Level Salary Range: $89,900.00 - $141,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
