Job Summary

The University of Michigan Law School is seeking a Media Consultant to join the Law School Information Technology (Law IT) team. This role provides front line consultation and technology support for classroom instruction, events, and daily operations by maintaining, installing, and supporting a wide range of instructional technology and audio visual systems.

The Media Consultant responds to classroom support requests, service tickets, emails, and walk-in inquiries to ensure reliable, high quality AV experiences for faculty, staff, students, and guests.
This position reports to the IT Operations Manager and is fully onsite at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor Central Campus. Some evening and weekend work may be required, with schedules adjusted accordingly.

Responsibilities*Maintain, install, and support audio visual systems including projectors, displays, microphones, speakers, cameras, and AV control systems
 Provide technical preparation, consultation, setup, and on site support for courses, meetings, and events
 Respond to urgent classroom help calls and troubleshoot issues quickly to minimize disruption
 Deliver professional, service oriented support to faculty, staff, students, and visitors
 Process and respond to AV support requests via tickets, email, phone, and walk ins
 Collaborate with Law IT colleagues to identify and implement appropriate AV solutions for teaching and learning
 Research, evaluate, test, and recommend new AV hardware and instructional technologies
 Train faculty, staff, and students on the use of classroom technology, AV systems, and Law School facilities
 Maintain accurate documentation related to equipment inventory, maintenance, and repairs
 Serve as backup support for colleagues as needed
 Required Qualifications*At least two years of experience operating complex audio visual and computer based technologies, with proficiency in computer hardware and software relevant to AV systems
 Proven experience in the installation, maintenance, and/or support of audio-visual equipment
 Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people
 Desired Qualifications*AVIXA certification or comparable professional training
 Familiarity with basic audio-visual control system programming concepts, such as making minor configuration changes, or assisting with updates to existing AV control code
 Ability to comprehend mechanical components, schematics, and cabling
 Experience using issue tracking and asset management software
