Job Description
As a Mechanic C, you will embark on your journey as an entry-level technician, gaining essential product knowledge and understanding quality standards within the branch. This position provides an opportunity to learn standard operating procedures at the branch, regional, and national levels, setting the foundation for career growth to higher-level mechanic roles. Your primary focus will be on utilizing your mechanical training to support fleet maintenance operations, ensuring Herc Rentals equipment is always ready for rental. Achieve this through a safe and professional preventative and corrective maintenance program.
Responsibilities
Follow a consistent schedule of performing preventative maintenance on all fleet equipment at the branch.Operate and test equipment to ensure it meets quality and efficiency standards.Perform routine maintenance and repairs on fleet equipment and trucks under direct supervision.Diagnose small tools and light rental equipment Perform major repairs on fleet equipment using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments under direct supervision.Conduct oil changes, lubrication of equipment, tire replacements, hose repairs, and battery replacements.Enter work orders and complete part ordering via fleet management system.Assist in reconditioning and replacing parts of heavy equipment.Learn warranty coverages and exclusions.Maintain a clean and organized work area.Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair logs.Follow all company field procedures and protocols.Perform additional duties as assigned.Essential Skills
Basic knowledge in diesel, troubleshooting, and repair.Some knowledge in electrical and hydraulic systems.Willingness to learn how to read schematics.Ownership of necessary hand and air/electric tools for repairs and services.Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, and generators.Proficiency in computer skills for system data entry.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Strong teamwork and listening skills.Dependability in completing tasks.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with preventive maintenance, oil changes, lubrication, hose assembly, and repairs.Understanding of hydraulic systems, propane, and electrical components.Why Work Here?

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
