As a Mechanical Subsystem Integration and Test Engineer, you will collaborate across disciplines, working closely with mechanical, electrical, software, and network subsystem design teams. You will be responsible for planning, implementing, and executing mechanical test campaigns for development, qualification, and acceptance phases.
ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with various subsystem design teams to plan and execute mechanical test campaigns.Develop strategies for Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT), including schedules, resource planning, test architecture, and detailed test flows for mechanical subsystems.Design and architect mechanical ground support equipment, including fixtures, handling tools, and test interfaces.Coordinate with vendors and supply chain teams to procure mechanical test support equipment and access to environmental testing facilities.Create detailed test events, descriptions, and procedures to verify mechanical subsystem requirements and ensure compliance with mission standards.Develop scripts and automation tools for mechanical test execution and data analysis.Assemble and integrate mechanical subsystems and support equipment, execute tests as per approved plans, and summarize results for engineering review.Lead root cause investigations for mechanical test failures or anomalies using structured problem-solving techniques.Ensure compliance with space hardware environmental testing standards such as SMC-S-016, NASA GSFC-STD-7000, and MIL-STD-810G.Essential SkillsRequirements management and test requirements expertise.Experience in defining and architecting electro-mechanical integration and packaging for electronics.Proficiency in writing test plans and creating test scripts with Python.Experience with electro-mechanical equipment and environmental test standards.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.5+ years of experience in mechanical integration and testing of aerospace or high-reliability systems.Hands-on experience with mechanical ground support equipment and environmental testing.Proficiency in test automation and data analysis tools.Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and subsystem interactions.Experience with spaceflight hardware and qualification campaigns.Familiarity with SCPI or similar scripting interfaces for test automation.Knowledge of satellite mechanical systems and launch vehicle interfaces.Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.Work EnvironmentThe position is based onsite in Northridge, CA, within the payloads development group working on low orbiting satellites.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70.00 - $80.00/hr.
