This opportunity is full-time, on-site at the North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant. The link below can be used to view further details of this exciting and complex project: North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant Program | Metro Vancouver Responsibilities - Perform day-to-day Field Services tasks on behalf of design professionals to ensure that projects are constructed in compliance with the design, budget, and schedule. Manage construction administration related processes and document controls through Tender, Construction and Post-Construction services. - Coordinate with design disciplines to complete delegated professional services during construction phase including coordination and scheduling of field review and reports, and processing of RFIs, site instructions, change orders, shop drawings, submittals, progress claims, deficiency lists, commissioning participation, closeout documentation, warranty period documentation. - Review mechanical shop drawings and submittals for consistency with design intent, building code compliance, and constructability, and coordinate reviews with the mechanical design team. - Conduct regular field reviews to verify conformity with design drawings and specifications. Document field observations, identify non-conformances, and issue formal reports and recommendations for corrective action. - Coordinate with design professionals, subconsultants, clients, contractors, authorities, field staff, utility companies, public agencies, and general public. - Coordinate with project design teams to complete construction-related design-phase review including constructability, cost, and construction sequencing and scheduling. - Conduct technical review of Tender submissions from the vendors. - Track construction progress and contribute to clear, timely reporting. Anticipate upcoming project needs, identify risks early, and support issue resolution. Utilizes BIM technologies in the development of three-dimensional models of building’s mechanical systems. Engage in design and BIM model reviews with the EPCM and trade - Engages with other team members and other mechanical staff within the BC to assist with technical development. - Internal leadership in design excellence, coaching, recruitment and retention. - Provide technical input and support for large projects of high complexity. - Evaluates, selects, specifies, and engineers all mechanical engineered systems or products for a project. - Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams and other visual formats. - disciplines to enhance constructability, reduce clashes and streamline construction sequencing. - Prepares and revises documentation in various mechanical phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details. - Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors. - Participates in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating. - Leads the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents. - Participate in constructability review. - Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers. - Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the mechanical group. - Develops project scope, budgets, and design approach for all sizes of projects. - Contribute to a “safety first" work environment in compliance with Stantec’s health, safety, security and environmental policies and procedures.  Your Capabilities and Credentials - Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve construction issues. - Working knowledge of compliance with regulatory standards. - Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. - Knowledge of automation and control systems, such as SCADA and BMS. - Requisite knowledge and application of applicable building codes and applicable building and energy codes. - General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications. - Strong knowledge of mechanical systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards. - Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule. - Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought. - Thorough understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others. - Must be able to qualify for Security Clearance with the Department of National Defense. - Advanced oral and written communication skills. - Presentation and interview skills are preferred. - Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, Revizto, and heat load calculation software. Education and Experience - Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. - 7+ years of experience in Building mechanical/HVAC, preference for people with construction, building experience (non WWTP is acceptable) and commissioning. - Licensed Professional Engineer, or ability to become registered as a P.Eng with EGBC immediately. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
