Occasional extended or shifted hours during high‑priority development phasesDURATION: 10 month contract with potential for conversionRole OverviewThe Mechanical Engineering Technician plays a key role in the design, fabrication, and assembly of test and laboratory fixtures within a dynamic R&D environment. This hands‑on position involves building and modifying mechanical systems, interpreting engineering drawings, and supporting iterative design cycles through precise assembly, machining, and troubleshooting. Working closely with engineers, the technician helps execute test plans, maintain an organized and ready lab environment, and drive rapid hardware development that directly enhances product performance, reliability, and overall innovation.
This role provides meaningful exposure to cutting‑edge technologies, diverse fabrication methods, and multidisciplinary engineering teams. Technicians have the opportunity to deepen their technical expertise, influence prototype development, and grow within a highly collaborative mechanical and R&D setting.
Key ResponsibilitiesFabricate, assemble, and modify mechanical systems, fixtures, and custom test obstaclesInterpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructionsSupport iterative design cycles by providing hands‑on feedback and build expertiseUtilize basic CAD tools to modify and document designsPerform mechanical assembly, machining, and troubleshooting activitiesEnsure compliance with safety, quality, and lab standardsMaintain lab organization, tooling readiness, and test equipmentCollaborate with engineers and research staff during testing and validation
MUST HAVES:
Education: Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or equivalent technical training and experienceExperience: 2–4 years of experience in mechanical assembly, fabrication, prototyping, or technician rolesProficiency with hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers, and torque toolsExperience with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, NX)Basic electronics testing and sensor integration experienceStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityAbility to work independently and manage time effectivelyClear communication and collaboration skillsAdaptability in fast‑changing, iterative environmentsSafety‑focused mindsetNICE TO HAVE SKILLS:

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
