Join a fast-paced manufacturing test engineering team focused on developing innovative automated and manual test solutions for complex mechanical and robotic systems. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional engineering and operations teams to design, prototype, iterate, and deploy test equipment that improves manufacturing quality, accuracy, and throughput. The position offers high visibility and the opportunity to see designs directly implemented in a production environment.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality to define design requirements for test equipmentDemonstrate strong engineering rigor through thorough analysis and documentationExecute projects from concept through production, including specifications, design requirements, prototyping, testing, validation, and simplificationValidate concepts using engineering models, hand calculations, and physical prototypesPerform static and dynamic analysis on mechanical systems using FEA tools (ANSYS or SolidWorks Simulation) and hand calculationsDesign mechanical subsystems integrated with industrial automation components such as motors, actuators, sensors, and safety systemsCreate comprehensive design documentation, including requirements, functional specifications, drawings, validation plans and reports, future iterations, compliance documentation, and preventative maintenance materials
MUST HAVES:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with 5+ years of relevant experienceProven experience scoping, designing, and analyzing mechanical and electro-mechanical systemsStrong understanding of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principlesProficiency in SolidWorksHands-on experience with rapid prototyping methods, including machining, sheet metal, weldments, and additive manufacturingExperience using PLM software and managing engineering change processesNICE TO HAVE SKILLS:
Experience designing and troubleshooting complex mechanical, electro-mechanical, or pneumatic systemsExperience with ProE/Creo for part design, advanced assemblies, configuration management, and drawing creation is a plusExcellent technical documentation skills, including creation of clear and concise drawingsExperience with PLM systems such as Oracle Agile, PTC Windchill, or SolidWorks PDMKnowledge of high-volume manufacturing processesJob Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of North Reading, MA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $54.00/hr.
