Job Title: Mechanical Engineer IIJob Description This role supports the development, testing, and validation of advanced robotic hardware for an R&D engineering team. The Mechanical Engineer will design and build test fixtures, integrate sensors and instrumentation, and execute mechanical and electromechanical testing. This position requires hands-on work in a lab environment, troubleshooting hardware issues, supporting prototype builds, and rapidly iterating on design improvements. Collaboration with cross-functional engineers and clear documentation/reporting are critical. Essential Skills + Strong proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and 2D drawings. + Hands-on experience with prototype builds, test execution, and rapid design iteration. + Strong communication, documentation, and data reporting skills. + Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or equivalent. + Experience designing, building, and modifying test fixtures and mechanical test rigs. + Troubleshooting mechanical and electromechanical systems. + Practical experience with measurement tools and sensors: accelerometers, load cells, strain gauges, force/torque/displacement/position sensors. + Ability to diagnose and resolve real-world mechanical issues in a lab environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Proficiency in LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python. + Familiarity with 3D printing and rapid prototyping. + Experience with JIRA. + CSWA / CSWP (SolidWorks certifications). + LabVIEW or MATLAB certification (bonus). + Familiarity with GD&T. + Experience with additive manufacturing tools and machine shop equipment. Work Environment The position is on-site, requiring presence 5 days per week. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 9AM–5PM (EST). The work setting is a corporate engineering lab environment, involving daily check-ins, weekly team meetings, and moderate team collaboration. Tools used include SolidWorks, measurement instruments, lab testing equipment, rapid prototyping tools, and DAQ systems. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Westborough, MA.
