Mechanical Engineer
Job Title: Mechanical EngineerJob Description

The Mechanical Engineer will support the Division of Building and Land Development Services (BLDS) in providing architectural, engineering, cost valuation, environmental planning, and construction support services. The role focuses on reviewing the design of mechanical systems for both newly-constructed and rehabilitated multi-family buildings, emphasizing decarbonization and electrification of building systems. Additionally, the role involves building capacity around decarbonization of affordable housing.

ResponsibilitiesAttend Pre-Scoping and Design Consultation meetings for DI and non-DI program projects.Participate in Design Charette and Design Review meetings for DI program projects.Review mechanical, plumbing, and electric plans and contract documents to ensure compliance with industry design standards and pertinent codes.Ensure that energy-efficient, high-performance, and low-carbon standards are met or exceeded in MEP systems design.Review scopes of work and specifications for mechanical systems for errors, omissions, and compliance with design guidelines and best practices.Conduct thorough research on mechanical systems by analyzing pertinent information and consulting appropriate parties to resolve discrepancies.Perform periodic site visits and field inspections as required.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Engineering.4+ years of relevant experience.Commissioning experience.Strong understanding of NEC, local, state, and International Building Codes.Proficient in AutoCAD.Experience with HVAC systems in large multifamily and commercial buildings.Additional Skills & QualificationsLEED AP BD+C certification.Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification.Experience with HPD projects.Work Environment

This position is part of the HPD's Building and Land Development Services Division, based at 100 Gold St NY, NY. The work schedule is 50% hybrid, requiring in-office presence 2-3 days per week. The remaining days are remote unless site visits or fieldwork are scheduled. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $115000.00/yr.
