Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer will oversee the engineering design of HVAC systems along with the overall MEP engineering design, construction administration, and project management for various institutional clients. The role involves performing design, load calculations, site surveys, design reviews, preparing detailed engineering drawings and schematics, and conducting field inspections for MEP systems.

Responsibilities

Design and manage HVAC/MEP systems for government and institutional clients.Perform load calculations, site surveys, and design reviews.Prepare detailed engineering drawings and schematics.Conduct field inspections to assess MEP systems.Take ownership of projects from design through to construction.

Essential Skills

5+ years of experience in Mechanical Design Engineering, especially in HVAC or Plumbing projects.Proficiency in AutoCAD designing; experience with Revit is advantageous.Strong understanding of building codes and guidelines such as NYS Energy Code, NYS Mechanical Code, NYS Building Code, and NFPA.Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in other engineering disciplines is beneficial.Experience with estimating on projects is a plus.Having EIT or PE certification is advantageous but not mandatory.Familiarity with estimating software and OSHA standards.

Work Environment

The position is based in the Bohemia office with flexible scheduling options. Occasional site visits are required, starting with once a week, possibly increasing based on project needs. During site visits, the engineer will perform field survey work such as observing and assessing existing conditions without testing or disassembly. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bohemia, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $57.68/hr.
