Job Title: Mechanical Engineer 3

Job Description

The main function of a mechanical engineer is to research and investigate the design, functionality, and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes. A typical mechanical engineer has the ability to make engineering drawings, and read and interpret blueprints.

Responsibilities

Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanical devices.Analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine the time and cost feasibility of completing projects.Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operations and make recommendations to the maintenance crew.Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using tools, equipment, or software.Support the Turbocharger applications team by collaborating with suppliers through APQP.Collect requirements from the applications team, understand customer needs, and work with other teams to create functional requirements for suppliers to design, create, and validate products before production.Support the salvage and reuse of turbochargers and conduct warranty analysis for gas-burning engines.

Essential Skills

Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability.Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings, and common computations.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.Experience with computer applications and software related to the engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD).Mechanical engineering and designing expertise.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aero Engineering.4+ years of experience (relevant experience could include APQP experience, turbocharger expereince, engine experiences, NPI experience, data analytics experience)Strong verbal communication.Project management experience.Strong mechanical aptitude.

Work Environment

This position requires onsite work from 8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Lafayette, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $36.00/hr.
