The primary role of the Mechanical Engineer is to research and investigate the design, functionality, and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes. This position requires proficiency in making engineering drawings and interpreting blueprints.
ResponsibilitiesResearch, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanical devices.Analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine time and cost feasibility of projects.Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operations and provide recommendations to the maintenance crew.Assist drafters in developing structural design using tools, equipment, or software.Essential SkillsCreativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities.Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings, and common computations.Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.Experience with computer applications and software related to engineering such as Computer Aided Design (CAD).Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aero Engineering.4+ years of experience in mechanical engineering roles (or 2+ years with a Master's degree).Experience in NPI, CPI data analytics, turbocharger experience, engine experience, and APQP experience.Strong verbal communication and proactive project management experience.Mechanical aptitude, such as experience working on cars, farm equipment, or similar.Work EnvironmentThis position is primarily onsite from 8 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional flexibility for working from home. The team consists of 11 members and may require occasional travel to Whitestown. The role supports the Turbocharger applications team and involves collaboration with suppliers and various teams to design, create, and validate products before production. There is a high workload in NPI for gas-burning engines and a large need for warranty analysis.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.00 - $36.00/hr.
