Job Title: Mechanical Engineer 2
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer 2 to provide engineering support for existing component families and associated sub-systems. The role involves leading efforts to resolve Continuous Product Improvement and New Product Introduction issues using the Six Sigma DMAIC process, managing meetings with Air Systems suppliers, and developing components from concept to production. You will perform calculations, analyze and summarize data for design validation, apply design standards, and interface with various computer systems. Collaboration with internal and external partners and creating design reviews are essential aspects of this role.
Responsibilities
Provide engineering support for existing component families and associated sub-systems.Lead and support the resolution of CPI and NPI issues using the Six Sigma DMAIC process.Manage meetings with Air Systems suppliers for component development.Perform first order calculations and analyze data to support design validation.Apply design standards and expertise from COEs and Air Systems peers to design projects.Interface with computer systems to manage information.Collaborate with internal and external partners on simultaneous projects.Create and present informal and formal design reviews.Assemble and disassemble prototype components and sub-systems.Perform detailed inspections of new and field-returned components.Essential Skills
1 to 3+ years of engineering experience.Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Strong verbal communication skills.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and prints.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Basic engine component and system level knowledge.Proficiency in MS Office Applications.Leadership skills to lead team meetings.CREO 3D modeling and simulation skills.Component level design experience with castings, fabrications, and injection molded polymers.Engine component and system level design experience.Ability to interact with shop floor technicians.Strong organization and time management skills.Capability to prioritize and manage multiple complex projects.Work Environment
Work hours are from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. This is an onsite role.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Lafayette, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00/hr.
