Job Title: Mechanical Engineer 2Job Description

As a Mechanical Engineer 2, you will provide critical engineering support to existing component families and associated sub-systems. You will lead and support the resolution of Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) and New Product Introduction (NPI) issues using the Six Sigma DMAIC process. You will also manage team meetings with Air Systems suppliers for both existing and new component development, from concept through to the start of production.

ResponsibilitiesProvide engineering support for several existing component families and associated sub-systems.Lead and support the closure of formal CPI and NPI issues through the Six Sigma DMAIC process.Conduct team meetings with Air Systems suppliers to manage and develop purchased finished components.Perform first order calculations and analyze data to articulate design tradeoffs or support design validation activities.Identify and apply design standards, expertise from Centers of Excellence, and Air Systems standard work.Interface with various computer systems to manage information.Collaborate with internal process partners, suppliers, and customers on multiple concurrent projects.Create and present both informal and formal design reviews.Assemble and disassemble prototype components or sub-systems.Perform detailed inspections of new or field returned components.Essential Skills1 to 3+ years of experience in Engineering.Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Strong verbal communication skills.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and prints.Additional Skills & QualificationsBasic engine component and system-level knowledge.Proficiency in MS Office Applications.Leadership skills to lead team meetings.CREO 3D modeling and simulation skills (desired).Component level design experience with castings, fabrications, and injection molded polymers (desired).Engine component and system level design experience (desired).Ability to interact with shop floor technicians.Strong organization and time management skills.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously (desired).Self-starter with minimal formal processes and procedures (desired).Work Environment

You will work from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm in an open and collaborative engineering office environment in Building A. The team structure involves reporting to the onsite Air Systems engineering manager, with direction from multiple team leads. Desks are grouped in sets of four related engineers, promoting frequent collaboration and open communication.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Lafayette, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00/hr.
