Job Title: Mechanical Drafter/Designer

Job Description

The Mechanical Drafter/Designer supports the engineering team by creating 3D models and other engineering and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

Develop, revise, and maintain SolidWorks 3D CAD models and associated engineering and manufacturing drawings.Create detailed and accurate 2D and 3D drawings and schematics for mechanical components, assemblies, and systems.Collaborate with engineers and technical staff to understand design requirements, resolve issues, and modify plans.Analyze specifications, sketches, engineering drawings, ideas, and related design data to determine critical factors affecting the design of components.Perform preliminary and advanced work in the development of working layouts and final master drawings adequate for detailing parts and units of design.Make necessary adjustments or changes to designs.Modify existing designs to correct deficiencies, improve performance, or reduce production problems.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in SolidWorks.Experience in mechanical drafting or design, with a preference for aerospace.Knowledge of mechanical design, sheet metal, and composites.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

College or vocational drafting/designer training - AS in Drafting Technology, 1-2 year CAD Certificate, SolidWorks certified training, etc.3+ years of strong mechanical drafting experience required; aerospace or aviation experience a major plus.Experience with SolidWorks PDM.Basic understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.Familiarity with drawing change review processes.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general engineering standards, processes, and technical procedures.Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Work Environment

This position is based onsite in NE Portland. The initial project is expected to be completed in approximately 3 months, after which the focus will shift to a new large project. This may remain a long term consulting engagement, or could be considered for hire for a future add with our client.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Portland, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr.
