The Mechanical Designer is responsible for preparing production and assembly drawings using computer-aided drafting software, primarily Solidworks, based on models created by equipment designers and engineers. The role involves some modeling and design tasks, requiring a solid understanding of mechanical design concepts and practices.
ResponsibilitiesPrepare production and assembly drawings using Solidworks.Collaborate with equipment designers and engineers to ensure accurate representation of models.Engage in some modeling and design activities, applying mechanical design concepts.Coordinate with procurement to identify necessary equipment for product design.Visit the production floor to oversee the completion of products.Essential SkillsProficiency in Solidworks and computer-aided drafting.Strong mechanical design skills.Experience with Solidworks Vault and Vault PDM.Knowledge of ERP systems and bill of materials.Ability to handle engineering change orders.Additional Skills & QualificationsAssociate's degree in drafting and design.Minimum of 2 years experience with Solidworks.At least 1 year of experience in manufacturing.Work EnvironmentThe candidate will work in an office setting, primarily using Solidworks for design tasks and collaborating with engineers. Communication with procurement is essential to determine equipment needs for product design. Additionally, the role requires visits to the production floor to monitor product completion. There is a company bonus structure based on achieving specific goals or milestones, although bonuses are not guaranteed.
