**Mechanical Designer – Aviation** **Location:** Lake Charles, LA **Company:** (Aviation / Engineering Services) **Employment Type:** Contract or Direct Hire **Schedule:** 1st Shift **Job Summary** Our client is seeking an experienced **Mechanical Designer – Aviation** to support aircraft, aviation tooling, ground support equipment (GSE), and aviation facility projects in the Lake Charles area. The Mechanical Designer will work closely with engineers and program teams to develop detailed designs that support aircraft manufacturing, maintenance, modification, and support operations while meeting strict aviation quality and regulatory requirements. **Key Responsibilities** + Develop detailed **mechanical designs and drawings** for aviation components, tooling, fixtures, and support equipment + Create and modify **2D and 3D CAD models** for aviation applications + Produce **assembly, detail, and installation drawings** per aviation standards + Support design of **ground support equipment (GSE), jigs, fixtures, and test stands** + Incorporate engineering changes, redlines, and configuration updates + Ensure compliance with **FAA regulations, ASME Y14.5 GD&T, and aviation quality standards** + Perform tolerance analysis and apply **GD&T** appropriately + Participate in **design reviews, FAI support, and manufacturing readiness activities** + Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, stress, and systems engineering teams + Support prototype builds and production floor activities + Maintain configuration control and documentation accuracy **Required Qualifications** + Associate degree or technical certification in **Mechanical Design, Drafting, or Engineering Technology** , or equivalent experience + **5+ years of mechanical design experience** in aviation or aerospace environments + Proficiency in **3D CAD software** (CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, or NX) + Strong understanding of **aircraft structures, mechanisms, or tooling design** + Experience with **ASME Y14.5 GD&T** + Ability to interpret **engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs** **Preferred Qualifications** + Experience with **aircraft manufacturing, MRO, or modification programs** + Tooling and fixture design experience + Familiarity with **FAA, DO-160, or aerospace quality systems (AS9100)** + Experience supporting **first article inspections (FAI)** + Exposure to composites, sheet metal, or machined parts **Work Environment** + Office-based design work with frequent collaboration on the production floor or hangar + May require occasional hands-on support during builds or installations **Why Join** + Opportunity to support **aviation and aerospace programs** with long-term stability + Hands-on involvement from concept through production + Collaborative engineering culture focused on quality and precision If you’d like, I can: + Condense this to a **job posting version** + Rewrite it for **junior / mid / senior levels** + Tailor it to **tooling-only, aircraft interiors, or structures** + Add **pay range, clearance, or ITAR language** _ManpowerGroup® (NYSE: MAN), the leading global workforce solutions company, helps organizations transform in a fast-changing world of work by sourcing, assessing, developing, and managing the talent that enables them to win.
