Position Summary, Responsibilities and Expectations:
Provide mechanical design support and engineering decision-making to deliver next-generation PC cooling and consumer electronics products to timely launch schedules, according to product and marketing requirementsDevelop and maintain mechanical CAD models, assemblies, and drawings to support product development and testing activitiesPlan, execute, and document mechanical, thermal, airflow, acoustic, and reliability testing, including wind tunnel fan testing and thermal test vehicle validationOwn execution of test plans and checklists, including firmware-related functional tests, in collaboration with electrical and firmware engineering teamsProvide creative and practical solutions for simple- to complex engineering, testing, and scheduling challengesCollaborate extensively with electrical, thermal, firmware engineers, product managers, designers, manufacturing, and internal or external partners (suppliers, test labs) to ensure successful development and launch of new productsMaintain regular and consistent communication across teams, including reporting of test results, project status, risks, and change control as requiredTroubleshoot and resolve mechanical, thermal, and system-level issues identified during validation and testing phasesPrioritize deliverables, tasks, and issues; manage test scope and change requests against scheduling and resource constraintsSupport EVT, DVT, OOBE, and regulatory compliance activities throughout the product development cycleContribute inputs for the mechanical and validation portions of component program development budgets and schedulesProactively assist with cost-reduction initiatives through design optimization, material selection, and validation of alternative solutionsActively support and continuously improve internal lab capabilities, test methods, fixtures, and validation processesCreate, review, and maintain mechanical and EE-related CAD, BOM, DFM, and test documentation as requiredSupport exit meetings, core team meetings, design reviews, and escalation meetings with clear technical input and data-driven recommendations
Essential Skills and Experience:
Proficiency in mechanical engineering analysis, development, validation, and documentationHands-on experience with mechanical construction design, including sheet metal and polymer injection-moulded componentsAdvanced 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks or similar)Strong assembly and detail drawing skillsSolid understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) principlesAbility to analyse and interpret test data and design options for critical features and determine optimal solutionsAbility to validate both novel and existing designs through structured testing and experimentationExperience developing and executing mechanical, thermal, airflow, and acoustic test proceduresBasic knowledge of turbomachinery, particularly axial fans and impellersGood understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer principlesExcellent attention to detail in both design control and test executionStrong prioritization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to work across multiple parallel projectsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear reporting of test results and conclusions
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or relevant experience3+ years industry experienceExperience with injection-moulding design and polymer materialsPDM/PLM system experience is a plusSolidWorks CSWA / CSWP certification is a plusExperience with SolidWorks Simulation (FEM) or other analysis tools is a plusPython or scripting experience for test automation or data analysis is a plusMaterial science experience is a plusProject management experience is a plusBeing a PC / gaming enthusiast is a strong plus
