Ability to commute to Westborough, MA, 5 days per week Job Description: Join a fast-paced manufacturing test engineering team focused on developing innovative automated and manual test solutions for complex mechanical and robotic systems. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional engineering and operations teams to design, prototype, iterate, and deploy test equipment that improves manufacturing quality, accuracy, and throughput. The position offers high visibility and the opportunity to see designs directly implemented in a production environment. + Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality to define design requirements for test equipment + Demonstrate strong engineering rigor through thorough analysis and documentation + Execute projects from concept through production, including specifications, design requirements, prototyping, testing, validation, and simplification + Validate concepts using engineering models, hand calculations, and physical prototypes + Perform static and dynamic analysis on mechanical systems using FEA tools (ANSYS or SolidWorks Simulation) and hand calculations + Design mechanical subsystems integrated with industrial automation components such as motors, actuators, sensors, and safety systems + Create comprehensive design documentation, including requirements, functional specifications, drawings, validation plans and reports, future iterations, compliance documentation, and preventative maintenance materials MUST HAVES: + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with 5+ years of relevant experience + Proven experience scoping, designing, and analyzing mechanical and electro-mechanical systems + Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles + Proficiency in SolidWorks + Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping methods, including machining, sheet metal, weldments, and additive manufacturing + Experience using PLM software and managing engineering change processes NICE TO HAVE SKILLS: + Experience designing and troubleshooting complex mechanical, electro-mechanical, or pneumatic systems + Experience with ProE/Creo for part design, advanced assemblies, configuration management, and drawing creation is a plus + Excellent technical documentation skills, including creation of clear and concise drawings + Experience with PLM systems such as Oracle Agile, PTC Windchill, or SolidWorks PDM + Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing processes Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of North Reading, MA.
