Job Title: Mechanical Design EngineerJob Description

Join a dedicated team specializing in the integration of robotics and vision systems for small component assembly and testing. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be an integral part of designing and building custom assembly machines and robotic processing cells. With our client's recent business growth, we are expanding our team to meet new demands.

ResponsibilitiesDesign and engineer new designs as well as modify existing ones.Develop a bill of materials and purchase necessary parts.Update design files with engineering changes as needed.Follow assigned design project procedures in an orderly manner, covering concept, review, design, and detail.Collaborate with Project Managers, the Machine Shop, the Assembly department, and Sales.Participate in Proposal Engineering, including concept development and simulations.Essential SkillsProficiency in Solidworks with at least 5 years of experience.Experience in material handling, 3D CAD, mechanical design, equipment design, and assembly design.At least 5 years of experience in industrial automation or tooling.Experience designing tooling/equipment/automation/material handling in Solidworks 3D.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) is a plus.Experience with modular tooling, robotic integration, and hard tool pick & place is desirable.Willingness to learn new technologies and eagerness to contribute to other areas of the business.Proactive attitude and willingness to take initiative to help get things done.Work Environment

Work within a small, family-like company atmosphere where all designs and builds are conducted in-house. Enjoy realistic turnaround times, with projects typically delivered 30 weeks from the purchase order. The team consists of about 40 people, including 2 Mechanical Engineers, 5 Controls Engineers/PLC Programmers, and 1 Hardware Designer. Expect minimal travel, primarily within Michigan, to visit customers when necessary.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Goodrich, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $69.50/hr.
