Mechanical Assembler
**Job Title: Mechanical Assembler** **Job Description** This position involves working in the AC, DC, or wiring departments, primarily focused on assembling solar panel power boxes and switchboards. The role requires working a 1st shift schedule, typically Sunday to Thursday, 5 AM to 10 AM, and Friday, 6 AM to 11 AM. You will be guaranteed 40 to 45 hours weekly, with training conducted during the 1st shift. **Responsibilities** + Set up daily jobs by preparing panel boxes, switchboards, and wires. + Assemble parts based on blueprints, placing components into the back of panels and feeding wires through. + Work collaboratively within a team on the assembly line, focusing on either wire spooling or assembly. + Utilize hand tools, air power tools, and torque wrenches for assembly tasks. + Screw in screws, nuts, and bolts, and strip wires into metal plates to assemble power boxes. + Achieve a daily target of assembling 64 panels once fully trained. **Essential Skills** + Proficiency in mechanical assembly and blueprint reading. + Ability to read a tape measure. + Experience using basic hand tools, power tools, and understanding of wiring. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Capability to read prints akin to Ikea assembly instructions. + Willingness to learn the operation of crimping devices, wire machines, and strip machines. + Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs. **Why Work Here?** Enjoy a clean, laid-back, team-oriented environment with on-the-job training. The team works collaboratively on the assembly line and during wire spooling. The environment is casual, requiring shirts with sleeves, shorts or pants without holes, and steel-toe boots. Employees can wear headphones with one earbud during work. Safety glasses and gloves are provided if needed. The shop is non-temperature controlled and equipped with fans, accommodating roughly 4-6 people per team, with 20 people in total on the 1st shift. The addition of a 3rd shift is currently underway. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Walker, MI. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
