As a Mechanical Assembler, you will be responsible for the assembly of wind turbine power transmissions and their subassemblies. This role involves working from blueprints, parts lists, and assembly cards, using various tools and equipment to shim and final assemble gear units.
ResponsibilitiesDisassemble gear boxes using torque wrenches or impact guns as necessary.Read and interpret gear box documentation and step-by-step instructions.Ensure accurate recording of serial numbers from each part during disassembly.Start in the parts washing area to understand components used in sub-assemblies.Heat parts in ovens for proper assembly during the sub-assembly process.Operate the overhead crane to return gear boxes to normal position for final assembly.Read instructions for specific customer addon assembly and use impact wrenches for mounting.Learn about gear boxes and their components used in assemblies and sub-assemblies.Gain knowledge about pinions, torque arms, ring gears, and other elements of gear boxes.Safely operate an overhead crane to lift, hoist, and move gear boxes throughout the facility.Essential SkillsMinimum of 2 year experience doing assembly or mechanic workProficiency in using basic hand and power tools.Basic math skills for explaining tool sizes and names.Ability to read blueprints and assembly cards.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.90 - $20.90/hr.
