**Job Title: Mechanic Trainee (Days)** **Job Description** Join a leading service and repair company for pumps and rotating equipment as a Pump Mechanic Trainee. This role begins as a shop helper and provides a path to becoming a 1st class API Pump Mechanic. The position involves getting hands-on experience with various mechanical tasks and supporting experienced mechanics and machinists. **Responsibilities** + Assist mechanics with pump overhauls and repairs. + Support machinists in fabricating parts. + Perform general labor duties, including cleaning, sweeping, and mopping. + Utilize measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers. **Essential Skills** + 2+ years of mechanical aptitude. + Proficiency with measuring tools including tape measures, OD & ID micrometers. + Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics. + Strong interest in becoming a 1st class API Pump mechanic. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience in pump mechanics and general mechanical assembly. + Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills. + Desire to build a long-term career within the company. **Why Work Here?** The company places a huge emphasis on employee care, offering competitive pay rates and a variety of benefits. A move to a larger facility is planned for 2024 or 2025. The day shift includes 7 manual machinists, 10 pump mechanics, and 1 welder, while the night shift comprises 3 manual machinists, 8 pump mechanics, and 1 welder. Employees are required to wear steel-toed shoes, jeans, work shirts, and safety glasses. The day shift operates Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and Saturday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with paid breaks and unpaid lunch. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, Texas. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
