A Mechanic is responsible for investigating problems with different types of motor vehicles and making repairs accordingly. Their duties include communicating with vehicle operators to discuss their concerns, carrying out routine maintenance procedures on motor vehicles and replacing parts on motor vehicles to promote their functionality.
Mechanic – Franmar School Bus

We’re looking for a skilled Mechanic to join our team and help keep our fleet safe, reliable, and road-ready. Whether you're working on our newest buses or maintaining our trusted older models, your expertise will make a real impact.
At Franmar, technicians are respected professionals. You’ll work independently on major and minor repairs, perform diagnostics, and mentor newer techs—all while continuing to grow your own skills through hands-on experience and ongoing training.
What You’ll Do:
+ Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on school buses with minimal supervision.
+ Diagnose and troubleshoot engines, transmissions, differentials, fuel systems, and more.
+ Conduct road tests to verify repairs and ensure vehicle safety.
+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
+ Use diagnostic tools and software to log and complete repairs.
+ Participate in Beacon technical training and other learning opportunities.
+ Support other projects and tasks as assigned by your manager.

What You Bring:
+ 1–3 years of hands-on vehicle maintenance experience.
+ High school diploma or equivalent (vocational/technical certification preferred).
+ Experience diagnosing major components (engines, transmissions, etc.).
+ Familiarity with diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
+ Valid driver’s license required; CDL is a plus.
+ Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
+ Willingness to work in non-climate-controlled environments.
+ Basic computer skills.
Additional Requirements:
+ Must comply with DOT regulations and company safety policies.
+ Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
+ Must pass background check, drug screening, and DOT physical.
+ Willingness to travel within the district as needed.
