We’re looking for a Meat Manager with strong retail grocery experience who is passionate about great service, fresh foods, and leading a high‑performing team.

Main responsibilities:

Lead daily operations of the Meat Department, ensuring high standards for product quality, freshness, cutting, merchandising, and food safety. Supervise, train, and coach a team of Meat Cutters, Butchers, and Meat Clerks to deliver outstanding customer service. Achieve department goals in sales, gross profit, labor, shrink, and inventory accuracy. Perform hands‑on meat cutting, trimming, wrapping, and stocking as needed. Ensure compliance with company policies, HACCP standards, and all food safety and sanitation requirements. Build strong customer relationships by delivering friendly, knowledgeable assistance at the service counter. Manage scheduling, task delegation, and staffing for a team of 2–20 associates. Use store systems to manage ordering, production planning, and reporting. Serve as Manager‑on‑Duty when assigned. 

We are looking for candidates who possess the following:

Soft skills: Strong leadership and team‑building abilities Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to motivate and coach team members Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills Professional and positive interpersonal style  Competencies:  Experience in retail meat operations or grocery store department management Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment Understanding of merchandising, inventory, and production planning Knowledge of meat cutting techniques and product handling  Knowledge:  Food safety and sanitation standards (HACCP) Retail grocery operations Meat product quality standards and rotation procedures  Abilities:  Work safely in cold environments (cooler/freezer) Lift and handle meat products and boxes Perform repetitive tasks such as cutting, trimming, and stocking Lead and supervise a team effectively  Educational requirements:  High school diploma or equivalent preferred Must be at least 18 years old  Travel requirements: May require occasional travel for training  Other requirements:  Ability to work a full‑time retail schedule including weekends and peak business periods Willingness to relocate or transfer if needed Commitment to food safety and compliance

Pay transparency language (if applicable)

Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Dependent on the length of service, hours worked and any applicable collective bargaining agreement, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay and retirement benefits pension and/or 401(k) eligibility.
